New Balance Rundle Mall is New Balance’s first bricks-and-mortar retail store in South Australia and the brand’s largest store in Australia, comprising approximately 600 m² within the high-traffic Rundle Mall precinct. The flagship delivers a full performance, lifestyle, and premium athleisure retail experience as part of New Balance’s broader national retail rollout.

ABK Fire Engineering was engaged to provide specialist fire engineering services for the project. ABK delivered compliant fire safety solutions tailored to a large-format, high-occupancy retail environment within a dense CBD context. The scope included fire safety strategies addressing occupant loads, safe egress provisions, and the integration of life safety systems within the store’s open-plan retail layout.

Through close coordination with the project team, ABK Fire Engineering ensured fire safety systems were seamlessly incorporated into the architectural design, supporting occupant protection and regulatory compliance while enabling the operational demands of a flagship retail environment.
